Daniel's Birthday

April 24 we celebrated Daniel's birthday.  He arrived home from work that morning, and we handed him an itinerary for the day!  We had a field trip to the UCR Botanical Gardens scheduled for that morning, so that was first on the itinerary.

It was a perfect weather kind of day, and our group seemed to be the only people taking advantage of it!

The gardens are absolutely fabulous; so beautiful, and so diverse.  One minute you can feel like you're in the desert, and the next minute it feels like a redwood forest.  Let me just warn you now, since Picnik closed I can no longer make collages, so I have WAY too many pictures.  I tried to narrow them down a bit for you, but without much success!!

There were some steep climbs for a stroller.  This man was a trooper!

These flowers reminded the girls of the ones they made a few weeks ago with coffee filters and pink paint.

Love, love, love this picture!  My darling blowing a "pookyhead."

 Oh, sweet boy!

Our lunch break was slightly "fancier" than our typical family picnic.  Snapple and Izze juices were a huge treat.  I also made gourmet roast beef sandwiches with Jarlsberg cheese on garlic sourdough rolls, little toothpick caprese salads I got from Pinterest, homemade guacamole with blue chips, (Natalie's choice), and homemade oatmeal raisin cookies; the birthday boy's favorite!

We saw lots of these... of course, we see them all over our backyard as well, but still exciting!

Back at home, we opened presents and relaxed before going out to eat.  The girls had helped decorate the night before.  They made giant "D"'s for Dad, Daniel, and whatever other "D words described him!

Happy birthday, sweet Daniel!  We love you!!
